VIROSH wedding special: Rashmika Mandanna once opened up about being scared of Vijay Deverakonda

After confirming their seven-year relationship, the newlyweds shared an emotional note announcing “The wedding of VIROSH,” a tribute to the nickname lovingly coined by fans. Soon after, the pair was seen in Rajasthan as their pre-wedding celebrations unfolded, sending social media into a frenzy.

Their story first took shape during the filming of ‘Geetha Govindam’. At the time, Rashmika was relatively new to Telugu cinema and confessed that Vijay’s intense ‘Arjun Reddy’ image made her uneasy. In an earlier interaction with The News Minute, she revealed, “I was scared when I first shot with him as I’m scared of new people. But then, Vijay is a very chill fellow and I found it easy to work with him.” What began as hesitation gradually transformed into ease and camaraderie.






Shooting intimate scenes for ‘Geetha Govindam’ also tested her comfort zone. Recalling her first on-screen kiss, Rashmika once shared, “For me, a kiss and all is a very personal thing. It is a very intimate thing. Two hundred people were watching, and I was like, how? But I think Vijay was feeling the same.” The awkwardness of that moment eventually strengthened their professional bond.

By the time ‘Dear Comrade’ hit theatres, their chemistry had become the subject of constant speculation. Despite repeatedly calling each other “good friends,” their words often hinted at something deeper. Rashmika described Vijay as her anchor during challenging times, saying, “He is the person who has seen me at my worst and helped me through it.”

Vijay, known for guarding his personal life, softened his stance during an appearance on ‘Koffee with Karan’. Speaking warmly, he said, “Rashmika is a darling and I am really fond of her… a bond gets created when you share so much through films.” The comment only added fuel to the rumours fans had long believed.

During promotions for ‘Animal’, a light-hearted live TV moment grabbed headlines when Rashmika called Vijay, and his casual greeting left her blushing. Even her co-star playfully pointed out the visible change in her expression. Later, while discussing ‘The Girlfriend’ in 2025, Rashmika spoke about a partner who helped her heal from past pain. Though she didn’t mention Vijay directly, her words were telling: “Luckily, I have a partner who has healed me from a pain he did not cause… he holds the same importance in my life as this film does.”
