MM Keeravani: 6 best music albums of the veteran music composer

Koduri Marakathamani Keeravani, popularly known as MM Keeravani, is a composer who redefined the way we listened to music in the last three decades of his career in Tollywood. He is the reigning king of melody from the 90s to present, and irrespective of the genre, every song of his has found a place on our playlist. He has especially been on a high since the release of ‘Baahubali’. On the occasion of his 57th birthday, here’re the six best music albums of the veteran music composer. Take a look!

Annamayya

Based on the 15th-century composer Annamacharya, this biographical devotional film has given much importance to the music. There are 20 songs in the album and all the numbers were composed by MM Keeravani himself. All the songs are undoubtedly a treat for the soul. Several noted singers like SP Balasubrahmanyam, Srilekha, Sujatha, Mano and KS Chitra have crooned songs in the film. Keeravani himself has sung some songs in the film. Needless to say, his contribution in the film has earned him a National Film Award for Best Music Direction.

Kshana Kshanam

The Ram Gopal Varma directorial was a musical hit in 1991. The Venkatesh starrer got applauded for its performances, music, screenplay and cinematography. When it comes to the music, there are five songs in the film and all are top notch beats. It would not be an exaggeration to say that it was cited as the ground-breaking album by the critics and listeners. ‘Kshana Kshanam’ still remains one of the favourites of many. It’s beautiful composition by MM Keeravani who won Filmfare Award Telugu for Best Music Director.

Criminal

The Akkineni Nagarjuna starrer has five songs and all numbers were blockbuster hits. The song ‘Telusa Manasa’ is still hummed by many and remains as one of the evergreen songs in Telugu. The song had been penned by Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry and crooned by SP Balasubrahmanyam and Chitra. Popular Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt has directed the film which was a blockbuster hit at the box-office.

Pelli Sandadi

K Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Pelli Sandadi’ had music that we had never listened before then. MM Keeravani has also won many awards for the film. All the nine songs in the film were instant chartbusters. The song ‘Nava Manmadhuda’ is loved by many.

Magadheera

‘Magadheera’ was a tremendous hit in the career of actor Ram Charan. This marked the second movie of the ‘Rangasthalam’ star and marvelous director SS Rajamouli’s seventh film. MM Keeravani had delivered six songs in the film. The song called ‘Panchadara Bomma’, which was penned by Chandrabose and crooned by Anuj Gurwara and Rita was an instant hit. Since ‘Student No 1’, SS Rajamouli and MM Keeravani have become a favourite combination in the Telugu film industry in terms of music. This is the seventh time they have collaborated on a project.

Baahubali: The Beginning

The SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus was an industry hit. The film’s music, which was composed by MM Keeravani, has played a key role in making the film super hit. Keeravani and Rajamouli have teamed up with eleventh time for the film. Upon its release, it received mixed to positive reviews from listeners and critics alike. The film has a special space in the worldwide box-office.
