‘Varanasi’:
Mahesh Babu shoots key song as SS Rajamouli eyes August shoot completion - Report
Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli are working on their upcoming action-adventure film, ‘Varanasi,’ which is currently under production. The latest buzz suggests that the team is shooting a song sequence for the film.
Makers filming dance number
As per Telugu Chitraalu, the shoot is said to be taking place on a huge set built in Katedan, Hyderabad. Mahesh Babu has reportedly been shooting there for the last few days. The song is believed to be more than just a dance number. Reports claim that it is an important part of the story and helps move the plot forward. Since Varanasi is being made as a global adventure thriller, every major sequence is expected to have a purpose in the narrative.
Priyanka Chopra wanted a dance sequence
Earlier in February, in a conversation with Variety, Priyanka Chopra Jonas shared something fun. She told Rajamouli before signing the film, “Listen, I’m coming back to Indian movies. I have to do a dance song. Like you have to make me dance.” She added, “I know I’m gonna be doing it, but we haven’t shot it yet. OK, that’s one of the last things, which I’m really looking forward to. But we already did one where the choreography was crazy. It’s so intricate.” Now, earlier this month Priyanka joined the ‘Varanasi’ team.
Shoot completion details
The reports also suggest that the makers are planning to complete the entire shoot by the end of August 2026. The team has already completed several major schedules and is now focusing on important portions of the film. It is imperative to mention that the production team has not officially confirmed these updates.
Another interesting update is that the team recently completed an underwater sequence for the movie. Reports say this decision was made due to water scarcity in Hyderabad. The sequence is expected to be one of the visually impressive moments in the film.
