SP Balasubrahmanyam passes away

Legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam who has been singing for the past four decades passed away on Friday at a hospital in Chennai due to complications arising from coronavirus infection. He was 74. As soon as the news of his death broke online, shocked Tollywood celebrities, fans, well-wishers, music lovers, political leaders and others took to social media to express grief and pay tribute. The final rites of SP Balu will be held around 10.30 am at his farmhouse in Red Hills, Chennai.

Nithiin resumes shooting for Rang De

Actor Nithiin has kickstarted shoot for his upcoming film Rang De on Wednesday. The film, touted to be a love story, also features Keerthy Suresh as the female lead and is directed by Venky Atluri. The makers are planning a trip to Europe next month to can a couple of songs. The makers of Rang De have released the teaser cut of the film in July, which has received tremendous response from the audience. Produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the banner of Sithara Entertainments, the film is expected to release on Sankranti 2021.

Raj Tarun’s new film launched

Actor Raj Tarun is collaborating with ‘Orey Bujjiga’ director Vijay Kumar Konda once again for his forthcoming project. The film was simply launched on Thursday. Tipped to be a romantic thriller, the music of the untitled film will be composed by Anup Rubens. Besides this project, Raj Tarun is playing a stand-up comedian in the debutante Santosh Mohan Veeranki directorial film. ‘Gypsy’ fame Natasha Singh and veteran actress Simran Bagga are also part of the cast.

Bollywood actress Saiee Manjrekar roped in for ''Major''

Actress Saiee M Manjrekar who made her mark in Bollywood has been in to play a crucial role in the Adivi Sesh's upcoming highly-anticipated biopic, Major. She will be joining the shoot in October. The film, which is based on the life of an NSG Commando, Sandeep Unnikrishnan who fought with utmost bravery in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, marks her debut in Tollywood. It is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and produced by GMB Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures India and A+S Movies.

VV Vinayak to wield the megaphone for Chiranjeevi’s ‘Lucifer’ remake

It’s officially confirmed that Megastar Chiranjeevi and director VV Vinayak are teaming up for the third time after blockbuster films like Tagore (2003) and Khaidi No 150 (2017). Ram Charan is bankrolling the Telugu remake of Lucifer under his home banner Konidela Production Company. The original version featured Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles.

Tollywood comedian Venugopal Kosuri passes away

Tollywood comedian Venugopal Kosuri passed away on September 23 due to coronavirus. Sources state that the actor was being treated for Covid-19 at a private hospital in Gachibowli in Hyderabad. But despite getting medical care, Venugopal is said to have passed away due to deteriorating health. Even as news of his demise broke, social media was filled with condolences for his family from loved ones and fans.

Kartikeya Gummakonda’s next film announced

Kartikeya Gummakonda is gearing up to play an NIA officer in his next with debutant director Sri Saripalli. The film will be produced by 88 Ramareddy under the Sree Chitra Movie Makers banner. Tanya Ravichandran of Karuppan fame will play the female lead in this film. The yet-to-be-titled film will see music by Prashant R Vihari.
