‘The Raja Saab’ OTT: Makers trim Prabhas film for digital release after theatrical failure

The Prabhas-starring horror comedy film ‘The Raja Saab’ directed by Maruthi turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office. The film, after its theatrical release on January 9, will soon make its debut on the digital screen. Now reports suggest that the film will be re-edited for its OTT release.

Alterations in the OTT release

As per a report by OTTPlay, the makers have re-edited the film. Many scenes that were trolled heavily during the theatrical run have been removed or trimmed. These include scenes where VFX was used to replace Prabhas with a body double. Some scenes where logic did not make sense have also been cut. The runtime has been reduced by almost 10 minutes. The purpose is to give a smoother experience for OTT viewers.

Shortcoming in ‘The Raja Saab’

‘The Raja Saab’ has received strong criticism for poor VFX work. Scenes where Prabhas’ face was digitally replaced with a dupe became a big joke online. Trolls pointed out these mistakes again and again. This badly affected the film’s image.

The director of the film, Maruthi, also saw a fair share of criticism online. Upon its release, many social media users called out the film’s poor writing. It made the end project fall short of the fans’ expectations.

OTT release details

Speaking of the film’s OTT release, the movie will stream on JioHotstar from February 6, 2026. It will be available to watch in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. It will also include English subtitles; however, the Hindi language details are yet to be known for the time being.



The film stars Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar as the female leads. It also includes big names such as Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, and Boman Irani in key roles. The score is given by renowned composer Thaman.
