'RRR' to 'KGF2': Check out the top 10 movies with highest openings at the Indian box office

With the release of back-to-back pan India movies, audiences are flocking to theatres in large numbers. More viewership means more collections at the box office. So let's check out some of the Pan-India movies that have grossed a minimum of Rs 70+ crores on their opening day across all versions at the Indian box office.

‘RRR’ (2022) – Rs 222.5 crores

‘RRR’ is a 2022 Telugu epic period action drama film directed by SS.Rajamouli and written by KV Vijayendra Prasad. The film is being produced with a whopping sum of Rs 550 crores and has reportedly minted a box-office figure of Rs 1082 crores so far. The film that starred Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in titular roles, the film collected the top collection of Rs 222.5 crores on its opening day.

'Baahubali 2: Conclusion' (2017) - Rs 213 crores

Yet again an SS. Rajamouli film, written by his father KV Vijayendra Prasad, is an Indian epic action drama produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni with a whopping Rs 250 crores. The film turned out to be one of the most highly successful films in Indian cinema reportedly minting a whopping Rs 213 crores on its opening day and securing second place.

'KGF: Chapter 2' (2022) – Rs 165.1 Crores

The Kannada period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel for Hombale films is the second instalment of two-part Kolar Goldfields criminology, that starred Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj. The film was made as a most expensive Kannada film delt the assassin Rocky, who, after establishing himself as the kingpin of Kolar Gold Fields.

'​Saaho' (2109) - Rs 124.6 Crores

'Saaho' is an Indian action thriller film written and directed by Sujeeth Reddy. The film produced by UV creations with a whopping Rs 350 crores starred several Bollywood actors such as Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukhesh, and Chunkey Pandey, Prakash Belwadi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Murali Sharma, Mandira Bedi among others from other industries. Since the film had a mixed to bad talk at the box-office the film could only have good openings of Rs 124.6 crores and stood at 4th place.

2.0 (2018) - Rs 105.5 crores

‘2.0’ – Is an Indian Tamil science fiction action film written by B.Jeyamohan and directed by S.Shankar for Lyca productions. The film is a second instalment in the ‘Enthiran’ franchise. It was one of the most expensive films back then in 2018, that is made with a whopping budget of Rs 570 crores, could make Rs 650 – 800 crores in its lifetime business, but had a great opening of Rs 105.5 crores.

​'Kabali' (2016) - Rs 90 crores

Kabali is a 2016 Tamil action drama film, written and directed by Pa.Ranjith and the film produced by Kalipuli S.Thanu starred Superstar Rajinikanth, Radhika Apte, Sai Dhanshika playing the lead roles. The film tells the story of an aged gangster who once freed from Prison goes on to take revenge on his rivals while also looking for his wife Kumudhavalli and daughter Yogitha.

The film reportedly made with a budget of Rs 100 crores has minted Rs 90 crores on its opening day.

​Beast (2022) - Rs 87.1 crores

2022 action comedy film starring Thalapathi Vijay, Pooja Hegde in the lead roles is written and directed by Nelson and produced by Sun Pictures. The film reportedly made with a whopping Rs 150 crores has an opening of Rs 87 crores across all languages on its opening day despite the film getting mixed to negative reviews.

'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' (2019) - Rs 85.3 crores

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi starrer historical action film directed by Surender Reddy is a fictional film based on the life of Indian independence activist Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from the Rayalaseema region. The film made with a whopping budget of Rs 270 – 300 crores turned out to be a Bomb at the box office, despite having a huge star cast.

However, the film had a great opening of Rs 85 crores on its opening day.

​'Thugs of Hindostan' (2018) – Rs 76.2 crores

The 2018 period action-adventure film written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, produced by Aditya Chopra starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and others is said to have been produced with an estimated budget of Rs 300 crores. However, the film failed to impress the moviegoers and has to settle with just Rs 335 crores had a great opening of Rs 76.2 crores on its opening day from all its versions.

​Baahubali: The beginning (2015) – Rs 73 crores

Last but not the least 2015 Indian epic action drama film directed by SS.Rajamouli and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni is a starter for all Pan-Indian films and stupendous successes. The film made with a whopping budget of Rs 180 crores when on to become a blockbuster hit by minting over Rs 650 crores at the box-office with most coming on its first day *(Rs: 73 crores).
