​From Amudalavalasa to Madras

Born on July 31, 1951, in Amudalavalasa, Srikakulam district, Sarath Babu initially had different aspirations. His father owned a prominent hotel and expected him to take over the family business. However, Sarath Babu had dreams of becoming a police officer. It was the encouragement of his friends and lecturers who saw the hero-like qualities in him that led him to consider a career in movies. Despite his father's disapproval, Sarath Babu decided to pursue acting and made his way to Madras (now Chennai) in search of opportunities.

Versatile Career Spanning Multiple Languages

Sarath Babu made his debut as a leading actor in the 1974 Telugu film "Rama Rajyam" and soon established himself as a versatile artist. While Telugu was his mother tongue, he also ventured into Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema. In fact, Sarath Babu gained more popularity in Tamil Nadu than in his native Telugu industry.
