'Petta': Five reasons you should watch Rajinikanth starrer

Petta is the third release of superstar Rajinikanth in less than a year, reaffirming the actor’s zeal to act in quality films directed by young age filmmakers. The Sankranti release is being directed by Karthik Subbaraj and this is an actor-director combination that has truly got the fans excited for this festive season. Rajini’s pairing with Simran, Trisha
Ever since the announcement of Simran in Petta was revealed to the public, fans have been curious to watch their on-screen pairing and their stills from the film prove they make for a great on-screen couple. Equally gorgeous has been Trisha, who has pulled off the retro look in the film’s flashback portions with elan. The styling of the actors besides their natural charm has contributed to their terrific on-screen chemistry.



Catchy one liners
Petta brings back the vintage Rajini that we’ve known in the 80s with his witty one-liners. Thanks to Telugu dialogue writer M Rajasekhara Reddy, Petta does have very catchy lines that haven’t made it seemed like a dubbed film in the Telugu version. Dialogues like ‘Style ga unnanta..naturally!’ ‘Chustavuga Kaali aadinche aata’ and ‘Nijam cheptunnanu, kotti underwear tho parigettistanu, paurvu pothe malli tirigi raaru choosko’ prove that we’re in for an aural feast too at the theatres.

Karthik Subbaraj’s direction
For a filmmaker like Karthik Subbaraj, whose body of work includes a series of interesting projects like Pizza, Iraivi, Mercury and Jigarthanda, teaming up with Rajinikanth is a game changer for many reasons. For once, it has given hope for young filmmakers that veteran heroes are indeed open for fresh and challenging scripts. And definitely for Rajinikanth, it goes without saying that Karthik Subbaraj will make the Rajini sensation feel very relevant and cool for this generation of millennials as well.

, has composed for a Rajini film. And the result has been nothing short of a perfect fan-boy tribute to the star with a bunch of catchy, contemporary, indie-styled tunes that has captured the imagination of listeners. The singer lineup of Anirudh himself besides the likes of Nakash Aziz, Rahul Sipligunj, Nakul Abhyankar has certainly infused a freshness into the album. And what better than an SPB intro song to lap it up?

The stellar star-cast
We could go on and on about Petta’s terrific casting and still not be doing justice to the magic that’s about to unfold on the screen. Petta is Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s first film in South cinema, marks the first collaboration of Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha, Sasikumar and Rajinikanth in a film as well. The presence of Megha Akash is an added attraction to Petta and the lineup promises its audience some terrific performances with Petta releasing on January 10.
