Here are five Telugu movie sequels that left us feeling bored

Making a sequel is a big deal. Filmmakers have reasons for making a sequel. It could be a hit storyline or a likeable character. When a first part hits the bullseye, the filmmakers know film buffs want more. The initial success of a project inspires them to consider for building a franchise. That being said, recreating a hit film requires a lot of intelligence and imagination. Some sequels shine with new concepts and twists that elevate the originals. Unfortunately, some sequels fail to give a fresh take on plot and characters and are boring repetitions of their predecessors. Here are five Telugu movie sequels that left us feeling bored.

Shankardada Zindabad

Local goon Shankar transforms those around him with his love and kind nature. That went really well, especially with Mega Star Chiranjeevi playing the Shankar Dada. Next thing we knew, Shankar pretends to be a professor in order to win over Jahnavi, a radio jockey. However, their relationship is threatened when Jahnavi discovers Shankar's real identity. The jokes weren’t funny. The hilarious entertainment was gone forever. Even a Pawan Kalyan cameo couldn’t save this Prabhu Deva directed-film.

Raju Gari Gadhi 2

Anchor Omkar really established his status as a successful director with his unexpected super hit debut Raju Gari Gadhi. That isn’t an easy task in Tollywood, you guys! The mysterious deaths in a hunted bungalow kept us all at the edge of our seats as well as made us laugh. Even though the plot is somewhat different from the original, the treatment of the subject by Omkar is not so fresh. However, Akkineni Nagarjuna is the ultimate saviour of the sequel.

Manmadhudu 2

Not all hit formulas work twice and they become dragged and boring, just like Manmadhudu 2. Not so much though when we saw the exact same stuff 17 years later. Akkineni Nagarjuna can’t always save the day. Unlike the first, the second part of Manmadhudu was an overdone, overacted and bored. So much is happening and none of it makes sense. But, the story of India arrives in Portugal piqued the curiosity of a movie buff. However, a routine story premise let down by contrived narration of director Rahul Ravindran.

Sardaar Gabbar Singh

Inspector Venkataratnam confronts the long thug Siddhappa who wants to become a politician in this 2012’s Power Star Pawan Kalyan starrer. His chemistry with Shruti Haasan was magical. But as much as we love Pawan, we couldn’t deal with his antics in the second stint. Amazing songs and glorious locations did nothing to help either. The mindless second half was a complete waste of time. What an unfortunate disaster.

Gaayam 2

Ram Gopal Varma's Gaayam was a super hit. It surprised everyone with its phenomenal success and it is still fresh in our memories. The sequel to the political thriller was just so forced. Even a talented actor like Jagapathi Babu couldn’t save the film when he hit by a bad script. It completely exhausts the mantra that once worked. Even though Revathi and Urmila Matondkar come back, their charm doesn’t. Just skip watching this one.
