Learning to embrace who I am has been a journey: Anupama
Self-acceptance rarely happens overnight, especially under the glare of the spotlight. For Anupama Parameswaran, that journey began with her hair. While her voluminous curls are now a defining signature, she admits they were once the root of a quiet battle with self-image. “In my early days, I used to feel very insecure about my curly hair and thick eyebrows,” she says, adding, “It wasn’t easy for me to accept and embrace who I am, but it’s been a journey, nonetheless.” That process of acceptance has extended beyond appearance to how she views the physical toll of her work. Talking about fine lines and dark circles, Anupama says she no longer sees them as flaws. “When I see my fine lines or dark circles, I remind myself they come from working hard, doing night shoots, and continuous effort,” she explains, adding that these signs reflect dedication rather than something to hide. For her, the takeaway is simple: “Embrace yourself just as you are.”
