'Korean Kanakaraju' teaser: Varun Tej wields a katana in Indo-Korean horror-comedy on 36th birthday

Varun Tej is gearing up for his next project and has now announced the title of his upcoming Indo-Korean film. The actor has confirmed that his upcoming horror-comedy is titled ‘Korean Kanakaraju’.

‘Korean Kanakaraju’ set for summer release On Monday, January 19, Varun Tej took to his social media handle to announce the title of his next. The actor also dropped the first glimpse of the film. The teaser opens with a glimpse of an Indian photographer being tortured by the cops. They are enquiring about the character played by Tej. Towards the end, Tej enters the police station, wearing a desi lungi and shirt, and wielding a sword. He attacks the Korean cops and says, “I am back.”




Varun Tej dropped the first glimpse and also confirmed that the film is set for a summer release. “Meet Korean Kanakaraju! See you all in theatres! Summer 2026!” the caption read.

Starring Varun Tej, ‘Korean Kanakaraju’ is billed as a horror-comedy. The upcoming film is directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. The film went on floors in March 2025 in Hyderabad. The makers had earlier announced the film with a tentative title. "The super entertaining journey of #VT15 begins with an auspicious pooja ceremony. Regular Shoot Commences today. Varun Tej, best known for his roles in ‘Kanche’, ‘Operation Valentine’, and ‘Gandeevadhari Arjuna’, was last seen in ‘Matka’.
