Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus, ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ introduced his world of mythological sci-fi starring
Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, veterans Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Making the movie one of the highly awaited sequel a recent update regarding the film suggests that the makers have begun shooting the project.
Shoot update
According to a report by Pinkvilla, there is buzz that suggests that the second part has begun shooting this year. It is suggested that both Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan are shooting together on a set in Shankarpally. The present shooting schedule does not include Prabhas. The scenes being filmed now are without his character. Prabhas is expected to join the sets on a later schedule. The makers have not shared any official update yet. So, all these details remain unconfirmed.
Sai Pallavi in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’?
Speaking more about the sequel, a major casting change will be seen as Deepika Padukone won’t be a part of the second instalment due to a mutual decision to part ways. The makers also announced it on their official social media handle.
Recent reports suggest that makers might be locking Sai Pallavi to take Sumathi’s role for the next installement which was played by Deepika Padukone earlier.

Talking about the film, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is set in a dystopian future where the land is being ruled by the menacing villain, a self-proclaimed god known as Supreme Yaskin, played by Kamal Haasan. He controls a rich land called the Complex. Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwatthama from the Mahabharata, who must protect the final avatar of Lord Vishnu in the future after 6000 years. Hope rises through an unborn child carried by SUM-80, also called Sumathi. On the other hand, Prabhas is seen as a bounty hunter named ‘Bhairava’.
