Richa Gangopadhyay turns 33: Eye-popping postures of the ravishing beauty

Mesmerized by Bollywood films, an Indo-American girl plays out scenes and choreographs her own dance moves in her tiny room. Though she is a musical prodigy, her talent doesn’t extend to the big stage. However, fast-forward to a few years later, she bags several beauty pageants and gets flooded with various opportunities, including the chance to become a mainstream heroine. Keeping college on hold, she crosses the ocean and pursues her dream in the regional circuit of Indian cinema. Two years later, she is one among the top actresses in Tollywood who shared the screen opposite big stars like Prabhas, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh. That’s Richa Gangopadhyay for you.

The award-winning heroine with a massive following on social media platforms and a limitless future in the showbiz arena decided to quit acting at the peak of her career and move back to the United States to pursue her MBA and focus on a long-term career in business management. She recently announced her engagement with her business school boyfriend Joe Langella. As Richa Gangopadhyay is turning a year older, here are some of her jaw-dropping poses.

Multicultural Childhood from New Delhi to Pittsburgh

Born in New Delhi, Richa spent her first year in Coimbatore before returning to the United States in 1989. While her father is the vice-president of a manufacturing company, her mother works as the Deputy Director of the prestigious Institute of Museums and Library Services, after being nominated by then-President Obama to serve as a member of the IMLS Board. Richa spent most of her childhood in Pennsylvania & Michigan and went on to major in Dietetics and Health Administration at the Michigan State University.

Beauty Pageants and Modelling

At just 21 years of age, Richa Gangopadhyay became the winner of the Miss India Michigan pageant and followed it up with the Miss India USA in 2007. She represented the United States in the 17th Annual Miss India Worldwide Pageant held in Johannesburg and secured a place in the Top 10. To realise her dreams in the glamour arena, the attractive belle flew to India and pursued a diploma in acting from Anupam Kher’s school. She started her stint by featuring in a Hair Oil commercial alongside Bollywood actress Preity Zinta and followed it with several print ads and digital commercials for national and global brands.

Noteworthy Debut and Mainstream Success

After reaching Hyderabad to audition for ‘Leader’ on her birthday, Richa was selected instantly by Sekhar Kammula for the heroine’s role and started to shoot in a couple of days. Sharing the screen alongside debutant Rana Daggubati, Richa impressed both as a TV correspondent and politician’s daughter, and bagged good marks for her charming beauty and arresting screen-presence. She played the titular role in ‘Nagavalli’, the sequel version of Chandramukhi and earned good marks for a convincing and natural performance. She followed it up with a glamourous show in ‘Mirapakaay’.

Tamil, Bengali and ‘Mirchi’

After a short stint in Tollywood, she ventured into Kollywood with ‘Mayakkam Enna’ and stunned everyone with a spectacular performance. Bagging several awards for this musical drama, she went on star opposite Simbu in the Tamil remake of Bollywood blockbuster ‘Dabangg’. After a couple of Telugu films and a Bengali project, she went on to romance Prabhas in Koratala Siva’s blockbuster flick ‘Mirchi’. Her last film is the disastrous ‘Bhai’ opposite Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Engagement with her Boyfriend Joe Langella

Richa Gangopadhyay decided to call it quits for acting in 2013 and moved back to the United States to pursue her MBA and focus on a long-term career in business management. She recently announced her engagement with her business school boyfriend Joe Langella who joined the university in 2015 after serving for the US Army in Afghanistan and Korea. The pair met during their second year as MBA students and has been dating ever since.
