Happy Birthday Isha Chawla: Dazzling photos of the ‘Prema Kavali’ bombshell

It’s not a cakewalk for North-Indian divas to travel down south and impress the regional viewers, particularly in Tollywood. While a few leading ladies like Simran, Kajal Aggarwal, Tamannaah, Pooja Hegde and Kiara Advani have successfully managed to do so, other starlets have either sacrificed their dreams or settled down in their own territories. Amid this scenario, a beautiful belle born and raised in the capital city of Delhi managed to strike the right chord with Telugu viewers’ courtesy her arresting glamour and flawless emoting skills. She is none other than Isha Chawla fondly remembered as the ‘Prema Kavali’ beauty.

The talented starlet with hands-on experience in theatre has made her presence felt in a handful of Telugu films and one Kannada project opposite Darshan. Besides box-office success, the 31-year-old bombshell managed to carve a niche for herself on the silver screen with solid acting chops, perfect comic timing and gorgeous glamour. With no films in hand, Isha Chawla is presently busy with her philanthropic activities, modelling, and TV commercials. As she turns 31 today, here are some of her ravishing snaps on Instagram.

Upon completion of her Graduation in Political Science, Isha Chawla kicked-off her professional career with a popular theatre group in Mumbai. Before this, she pursued a three-month training program in acting from the famous Barry John Acting Studio in Lajpat Nagar. Before trying out her luck on the silver screen, the beautiful belle starred in a few TV commercials and participated in many corporate shoots. She is a Buddhist and dedicatedly attached to the global Buddhist Organization ‘Soka Gakkai International’.

Highly impressed by her flawless screen-presence and emoting skills, director K Vijay Bhaskar roped in Isha as the female lead opposite debutante Aadi for the 2011 romantic-comedy ‘Prema Kavali’. Released amidst no expectations, the film went on to become a stupendous success at the ticket counters with special mention to all its superhit songs. Isha bagged glowing praises for her convincing performance and also won the Most Promising Face of the Year award. Her breakthrough in Tollywood came with her second outing ‘Poola Rangadu’ in 2012. The commercial entertainer had a terrific theatre run in both the Telugu states and the heroine was appreciated for her brilliant portrayal.

Though the success of Prema Kavali fetched many offers to Isha, her unmatched love towards theatre took her back to Gurgaon to perform with differently abled/special needs children. Immediately after ‘Poola Rangadu’, she essayed the leading lady’s role opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna in ‘Srimannarayana’ and acquired big compliments for her perfect comic-timing in the action film. After three consecutive films in the same production house, Isha Chawla got out and reprised Kangana Ranaut’s role in the Telugu remake of Bollywood blockbuster ‘Tanu weds Manu’. Despite the film received a lukewarm response at the box-office, the actress gathered good reviews for her dominant show.

After ‘Jump Jilani’ with Allari Naresh, Isha Chawla started shooting for her long-delayed Kannada film ‘Viraat’ opposite Challenging star Darshan. Faring well at the ticket counters upon release, the commercial film brought good recognition to its female lead for her convincing portrayal as a brash and unapologetic belle. In 2016, the ravishing damsel signed MS Raju’s RUM (Rambha Urvasi Menaka) which also featured the hot Trisha and sexy siren Nikesha Patel. However, the project got shelved after some shoot in the Maldives.

In 2017, Isha Chawla started her own NGO ‘Amanya Foundation’ which works to ensure that the underprivileged and differently-abled kids are not kept away from the joy of learning Art. The entire group travelled to Sri Lanka in 2017 with their own play titled 'JUGNU', a story of a courageous bird who wants to fulfill his dream, even though the whole community would go against him. At present, she is dedicated to bringing a change in the lives of these special children.
