Comeback divas of Tollywood: Shruti Haasan, Trisha, Amala Paul, Priyamani, Amala Akkineni

It’s quite common for film celebrities to hit the rough patch once in a while in their professional space. Coming to actresses, a series of flops might certainly lead to their disappearance from the showbiz arena. Talking about exits, most heroines opt for a long substantial after marriage and mark their return with performance-oriented roles. Very few divas like Samantha Akkineni and Amala Paul continue to portray the leading lady without bothering about the social taboo.

2020 is likely to witness the comeback of a bevy of actresses like Trisha Krishnan, Shruti Haasan, Amala Paul, Priyamani and Amala Akkineni to Telugu cinema. While Priyamani is reprising Manju Warrier’s role in the Telugu remake of Asuran, Shruti Haasan is playing the leading lady opposite Ravi Teja in Krack and Trisha Krishnan is likely to romance Chiranjeevi in Chiru152.

Shruti Haasan is making her Tollywood comeback with Ravi Teja’s Krack

Popular actress and acclaimed singer Shruti Haasan has recently ringed in her 34th birthday in London. After taking a brief break from acting to reassess things and reshape her career in the showbiz world, the gorgeous gal is back to business with two big-ticket films down south; Ravi Teja’s ‘Krack’ and ‘Laabam’ opposite Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi. In recent years, she has also been giving live performances in the UK with her British rock band. Lastly seen in Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu, Shruti Haasan has just given a tight slap to all body shamers with her empowering post on Instagram.

Priyamani is reprising Manju Warrier’s role in Asuran Telugu remake

Priyamani’s last film in Telugu was Prakash Raj’s bilingual drama ‘Mana Oori Ramayanam’. After four long years, the 35-year-old Kannada bombshell is making her comeback to Tollywood with the remake of Asuran. Starring Venkatesh in the titular role, the rustic actioner is directed by Srikanth Addala and Priyamani is stepping into the shoes of Manju Warrier. According to reports, a high-octane action sequence has been canned on Venkatesh & Co at the red sand desert which spans over 12,000 acres. After finishing the action part, a song is currently being shot on the lead actors in Kovilpatti.

Trisha Krishnan is likely to romance Chiranjeevi in Koratala Siva’s film

T-Town reports suggest that Trisha Krishnan has been roped in as the leading lady opposite Chiranjeevi in Koratala Siva’s film. If this turns out to be true, the 36-year-old sexy siren will be making her comeback to Tollywood after four long years. Tentatively titled as Acharya, the shooting of the socio-political actioner is proceeding at a rapid pace in Hyderabad and as mentioned earlier, Chiranjeevi is likely to play dual roles as Govind and Acharya. Meanwhile, Trisha is hands-full in Kollywood with a string of female-centric projects in her kitty.

Amala Paul is reportedly playing a pivotal role in the Telugu remake of Asuran

Though Amala Paul has only featured in a handful of Telugu films, she is quite popular for her brilliant portrayal of Komali in Allu Arjun’s Iddarammayilatho. Making full use of her solid emoting skills, natural beauty and captivating expressions, the 28-year-old actress carved a niche for herself with a string of content-driven films in Tamil and Kannada. She never shied away from attempting bold and experimental roles in her eventful career. According to sources, Amala Paul will be reprising the character of Maariyamal played by Ammu Abhirami in the original. An official confirmation is still awaited from the makers.

Amala Akkineni is playing Sharwanand’s mom in her comeback film

During her prime, Amala Akkineni was a league apart in the Southern film industry for her girl-next-door persona, breath-taking dancing skills and convincing acting chops. She is also one among the few celebrity wives in the Indian film fraternity who have dedicated their time towards philanthropic and animal welfare activities. The 52-year-old actress is making her comeback to Telugu cinema after eight long years with debutante director Shree Karthik’s bilingual film. Sharwanand and Ritu Varma are playing the lead roles in this new-age rom-com.
