They showcased their human side by donating millions of rupees for a good cause

The Coronavirus outbreak has taken a massive toll on the entertainment industry as theatres have been shut and movie releases are being pushed indefinitely. With all shootings being put on hold and the daily wage workers on film sets going out of work, some film stars have come forward to extend financial help for those in need. They understand the responsibility of the status they hold in society. They showcased their human side by donating millions of rupees for a good cause. Prakash Raj

Veteran actor Prakash Raj, who is always vocal about social issues, has taken steps to help out employees working at his production house, house, farm, foundation and stalled films in these trying times. The actor has paid all their salaries in advance till May and took to social media urging others to do the same. He also said he would continue to do more with what he can afford and requested each one of us who can afford to help needy around us. He concluded that it's time to give back to life and time to stand by one another.

Nithiin

Telugu actor Nithiin, who is basking in the success of his recent outing Bheeshma has donated a sum of Rs 10 lakh each to both the CM relief funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to combat the catastrophic pandemic. It was revealed that Karan Johar's home banner Dharma Productions has bagged the remake rights of Bheeshma, and will be rolling out the Hindi version very soon. Karan Johar was very impressed by Bheeshma's storyline, and its win at the box office proves even better things for a Hindi remake.

Dr Rajasekhar

Dr Rajasekhar is one of the actors who often seen in working for social causes. Apart from acting in films, the 58-year-old actor has been doing extensive charity work. At a young age, he established Rajasekhar Charitable Trust and started showing his interest in social causes and worked for the betterment of needy people. Amidst these trying times in Tollywood, Dr Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha are reportedly stepping forward to offer a helping hand. The actor has decided to donate essential commodities to poor artists in the industry.

Karthi and Suriya

Actor Suriya Sivakumar along with brother Karthi and father Sivakumar donated Rs 10 lakh to FEFSI (Film Employees Federation of South India) workers, who have lost their livelihood due to the pandemic. Suriya is awaiting the release of his next Aakasam Nee Haddura directed by Sudha Kongara. The film is in the post-production stage currently, and the release date will be announced very soon. Veteran actor Mohan Babu plays a crucial role in the movie. Meanwhile, Karthi will be seen in Bakkiyaraj Kannan's Sultan and Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan.

Rajinikanth

Thalaiva Rajinikanth has reportedly donated Rs 50 lakh, which is equal to 25 per cent of the money requested by the FEFSI president RK Selvamani. Due to the Coronavirus lockdown, the shooting of Rajinikanth's 'Annaatthe' which is directed by Siruthai Siva has also been suspended. The film is produced by Sun Pictures, and it is expected to be released in Diwali 2020.


As of now, the death toll from Covid-19 in India increased to nine after a man in Kolkata succumbed to the infection. Millions of people have been placed under stringent lockdown until the end of the month as efforts to halt the spread of the virus in the country intensified.
