4 years of ‘Baahubali-The Beginning’: Here’re some unknown facts about the blockbuster film

Maverick director SS Rajamouli has made one in a lifetime film Baahubali: The Beginning with the actors like Prabhas, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, etc. And it goes without saying that they are currently ruling the industry. When the film release in 2015, it got the cash registers ringing at the box office. People loved the fresh content of the film and of course, the spectacular visual effects. Performances by the lead artists were loved by the audience too. What also added to the movie’s popularity was its soundtrack. Composed by MM Keeravani, songs such as ‘Dhivara’, ‘Pacha Bottesina’, and ‘Manohari’ are still a hit with music lovers. As the film completed four years on July 10, we take a look at some of the lesser known facts about the film.

According to the makers, the climax scene of the film has been shot in an extra-large manner as the producers have invested huge money especially for the climax. In fact, the makers have never step back to spend more money for the film. The climax scene has been shot with over 1000 junior artists in a much bigger way and the makers spent nearly Rs 30 crore for the much elevated climax scene, which shot at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Director SS Rajamouli and his team have put their maximum efforts to make the film a blockbuster one.

To capture the essence of the magnum opus, Makuta VFX team took the challenge to carefully and meticulously deign each and every part of the visual with performance capture technique. They have created and designed sets that people felt were real in this world that they belonged to. VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan tried very hard to bring life to the designs with the help of 16 different VFX studios over a span of two-and-a-half-years. This film required them to build the environment for the ancient kingdom of Mahishmati and all of the staged action in the majority of the film. The battle for Mahishmati and the film’s showdown between Baahubali and Bhallaladeva.

Baahubali: The Beginning has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records. The movie, which features top actors like Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj, Nassar and Ramya Krishnan and a host of others, was officially recognized by the 2015 Guinness World Records for the largest film poster of more than 50, 000 sq. ft. This is the first time ever that the Telugu film industry will be achieving such a wonderful success that will be registered by the Guinness World Records.

Baahubali: The Beginning has attracted filmmakers across the world. A documentary filmmaking unit of the BBC World visited the sets of the film and interacted with the team to make a documentary about it. They sought to know more about the visual effects, characters and their practices about the film. The documentary has been titled ‘100 years of Indian Cinema’. They were impressed with the way the unit was making the film and its techniques and, came across the perspectives of the filmmakers and appreciated the makers for making such a wonderful film.

It was a 100-day gruelling schedule with several members of the crew at waterfalls in Kerala. Prabhas was joined by his co-star Tamannaah, with whom she is teaming up with for the second time after Rebel. Peter Hein had choreographed all the stunts and sequences for the film and especially the waterfall sequences, which were mind-boggling. Reportedly, the unit was all excited to be shooting at the gigantic waterfalls.
