Popular Tamil film director, actor and screenwriter who was very popular during the ’80s and ’90s of Tamil cinema is said to have a Telugu ancestry, as his parents Krishnaswamy and Amaravathiamma migrated to Tamil Nadu long back even before Andhra and Tamil Nadu were partitioned as two different states. His son Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and daughter Saranya Bhagyaraj both are actors in Tollywood.
