Disgruntled filmmaker, R
Narayana Murthy, storms out of
Indian Cinema Centenary Celebrations in Chennai. Heres why?
The celebration of Telugu Cinema at the Indian Cinema Centenary Celebrations in Chennai turned ugly on Sunday evening. During the so-called celebrations at the event, popular filmmaker R Narayana Murthy went on stage and interrupted the programme, calling it an audio function.
Speaking from Chennai, R Narayana Murthy said that he was disappointed with the way the organisers showcased Telugu cinema.
When I went to the venue, I couldnt find even a picture of Raghupathi
Venkaiah Naidu, the pioneer of South Indian cinema. Moreover, the event began with Sivamanis show, which was followed by song and dance. I expected a lot and I was very disappointed, said Narayana Murthy. There were so many people who worked hard towards developing the Telugu film industry and it is sad that none of these people were honoured by even a poster at the premises, he adds.
Speaking on what prompted him to go up on stage and interrupt the show, Narayana Murthy said, I was disappointed and wanted my displeasure known. Thats the reason I interrupted the show. People were bored to watch the programme which seemed like any other Telugu audio function. The disgruntled filmmaker not only left the venue, but decided to come back to Hyderabad, giving the final day celebrations a miss.
