The film which was dubbed in Tamil and Malayalam as Salanai Oli ran in theatres for more than 100 days in the theatres of Andhra Pradesh, TamilNadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

The film which traces Kamal Haasan’s journey as a classical dancer going through multiple upheavals in his career was also awarded two National Awards, six Nandi Awards and three Filmfare Awards.
