Of confused relationships, newsroom drama and GOT addicts

This Tanglish play, ‘Adaenga Appa 5 Kadhai’, with five different comedy-based stories will take you around weird situations in life that we get into almost every day. By Light and Blind Productions, this play that is an hour 20-minute play and 15 minutes each, has stories about a family obsessed with Game Of Thrones, anchors of news hours on television and more.
Giving us details about the play, director Hari Ramakrishnan J says, “The first one is titled ‘Oor Ariya Naralaam’. What you see on TV is one thing but what happens behind the scene is another story. From sentimental drama to false tears, this play has all the masala that caters to TV audiences. The second one is called ‘GOT Spoiler Alert’. It’s about a guy who doesn’t watch GOT, but people around him watch. So, what happens to him and how he tries not to succumb to the craze forms the play. Next one is called ‘Indecent Proposal’. It’s about two guys, who fall for the same girl. There is a contest of sorts, where the girl invites both the guys to a restaurant to decide who will be her husband. Then there is ‘Gangaraj Pandey’, a take on today’s newsrooms and shows. It is a funny take on how a news anchor goes about hosting a news hour. The last story is called ‘Vasantha Maligai’, which revolves around a boy who tries to help his friend succeed in love. Little does he know that there is a huge surprise awaiting him. All of them are different and will be interesting.” A team of 25 members have worked on the play, of which 21 are going to act on the stage.
