‘Care’ brought them together
This beautiful couple met on the set of Amarkalam. Apparently, it was not a love at first sight for Thala and Shalini. Initially, they started as professionals, but slowly, as the shooting progressed, love blossomed. There is this one particular incident that is said to have brought them together, finally. As the story goes, they shot an action sequence which required Ajith to wield a knife and pretend to make a cut on Shalini’s hand. But Ajith accidentally cut her hand for real. This resulted in him taking care of her on the set, and she in turn, was really impressed with that. The duo got married in a grand ceremony in 2000.

The Superstar’s love story is filmi, too. Latha Rangachari met Rajinikanth for the very first time on the set of his blockbuster film, Thillu Mullu. Latha, who was a college student then, wanted to interview Rajini for her college magazine. And instead of asking him questions, there she was, rendered speechless by the Superstar's question, instead. He asked her whether she would marry him! The task of convincing Latha’s parents went to veteran actor Y Gee Mahendra, as he knew Rajinikanth since his debut film, and is also Latha’s sister, Sudha’s husband. Well, he managed to, and in 1981, the Superstar married his soulmate.
