According to The New Indian Express, Vijay began his speech by thanking his cast and crew before turning to the film's political undertones. He drew a comparison between ‘Sarkar’ and his earlier hit ‘Mersal.’ “The special thing about 'Sarkar' is that ‘Mersal’ had a bit of politics, while the politics shown in Sarkar will be 'mersal' (meaning amazing)," he said.




He then made a statement that drew loud cheers from the crowd. “People will contest in the elections to form a government, but we have formed our Sarkar already, and now we are going to contest in the elections,” Vijay said. As fans reacted enthusiastically, he stepped in to clarify his intent, saying he was referring only to the film and asking the audience to support it if they enjoyed it.

When the host asked about rumors that he was portraying a chief minister on screen, Vijay responded with humor but added a line that stayed with many listeners. “If I ever become a CM in real life, I won’t be acting as a CM but do my duties honestly,” he said. He ended his address with a broader comment on governance and justice. “We have to pay for even our death certificates now. If the leader is just, his government will flourish. Justice will always win, but it takes time.”

Separately, LiveLaw said the producer of Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Jana Nayagan’ has moved the Supreme Court in a dispute related to CBFC certification. The Times of India reported that the film was scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, and that the Supreme Court is likely to hear the matter on January 21, after a Madras High Court division bench stayed an earlier single bench order.
