'Varisu’ or ‘Thunivu’ – Which is the real winner? Here are the reasons!

Vijay and Ajith’s films this year during Pongal release and this is happening after a gap of 8 years. ‘Varisu’ and ‘Thunivu’ made it to the big screens on January 11 and both the films are performing well in theatres. Both the films have made a box office collection of more than Rs 210 crore individually and it is expected that the films will close their run in theatres with an mount of Rs 300 crore collection. With both the films still fighting the win, here are 5 reasons that prove how the Vijay starrer ‘Varisu’ has become the real Pongal winner.

A family drama

Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, ‘Varisu’ stars Vijay in the lead role. The story of the film is a family emotional drama that has attracted audience of all age and has encourage families to watch the movie together. Though the story line of the film is not very new, it has the fans interested as the movie has all aspects of the movie – emotion, action and romance equipped.

Grasp over audience

The movie was released in both Tamil and Telugu which made the film a better hit among the audience. When ‘Varisu’ was first released in Tamil on January 11, the movie received positive reviews from fans but it did not perform well at box office.But through word of mouth and especially after ‘Vaarasudu’ release, the film’s box office raised as more family audience watched the movie.

Star cast

The movie’s cast included a wide range of actors and actresses over different languages. Starring Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, the supporting cast included Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, Shaam, Srikanth, Sangeetha Krish which in turn helped the movie to be popular among the south belt.

The movie’s music was composed by S Thaman and the film’s song have become a blockbuster hit. The songs ‘Ranjithame’, ‘Thee Thalapathy’, ‘Vaa Thalaiva’ have become famous among the audience in all languages and the soundtrack acts as an added advantage over the success of the movie.
