Ajith's 'Valimai' is one of the recent films that were shot in Russia. Though the lion’s portion of the film was completed, they were persistent that a pivotal scene in the film had to be shot in Russia. They waited for a while to film a racing scene in Russia. After lockdown restrictions had been lifted, the 'Valimai' team went to Russia in August 2021 and completed the remaining portions of the film. Those action scenes shot in Russia have come well, and the wait was paid off.

The filming of Vijay's 'Beast' started overseas since the corona situation was getting worse in India. The team reportedly completed shooting a few portions in Russia and Georgia and returned to Chennai before the second wave. The film is getting ready to release and seems like overseas portions are so important in the film.

Chiyaan Vikram starrer 'Cobra' has been shot in several foreign countries, and the team was sent back from Russia when they were shooting for the film in March 2020. But the team again waited for more than a year to resume work in Russia and completed the film shooting successfully. Jayam Ravi starrer 'Dhaam Dhoom' is about a doctor's trip to Russia, and the unexpected situation he faces in the country. Almost half of 'Dhaam Dhoom' was shot in Russia, and the team had explored some new locations in Russia for the Tamil cinema audience. Unfortunately, director Jeeva passed away when the film was at the halfway stage, and the film was later completed by Jeeva's wife, his associate GK Manikandan, and PC Sreeram.
