The latest OTT releases to watch in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam: From ‘Ekka’ to ‘Su From So’ and 'Coolie'

September is a banging month if you love films and shows from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema. The first few weeks of the month are already jam-packed with thrilling and amazing shows and films on some of your favourite streaming platforms. From ‘’ to ‘’, here is everything you need to be on the lookout for.

2/7

‘Kammattam’ (Malayalam)

This thrilling and action-packed drama series is set to debut on ZEE5 on September 5 this week. The show follows the story of Inspector Antonio George, who starts working on the death of Samuel Umman. This case, however, ends up leading him down a chain of events that uncovers secrets, chaos, and something more sinister at work. The show boasts a powerful cast that includes Sudev Nair, Jeo Baby, Sai Kumar, Vivya Santh, Akhil Kavalayoor, and Sreerekha. The series is getting good reviews.

3/7

‘Kannappa’ (Telugu)

This epic film was initially released in theatres on June 27, and received a lot of praise from movie-goers and critics. The premise of the film is based on Thinnadu, a tribal warrior known for his skills and fierceness. The film portrays the chain of events that turn him from an atheist to a devout bhakt (devotee) of Vayulinga, a deity of Shiva. The cast for the film includes Vishnu Manchu, Avram Baktha Manchu, Preity Mukhundhan, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Mukesh Rishi, and Brahmaji.

4/7

‘Su From So’ (Kannada)

The first week of September is already packed, as even this hit Kannada film is set to release on Jio Hotstar on September 5. The premise of the horror comedy film is set in a remote village, where a boy’s innocent crush turns into something more. Weird things happen around town, leaving people convinced that a ghost is afoot because of the boy. The cast for the film includes names such as Shaneel Gautham, J. P. Thuminad, Sandhya Arakere, Prakash Thuminad, and Deepak Rai Panaje. The film had its theatrical release on July 25 and has since then garnered a lot of raving reviews.

5/7

‘Junior’ (Kannada-Telugu)

This action-drama film was released earlier this year in July and will soon be hitting the OTT platform Prime Video on September 5. The story of the film starts with Abhinav, who escapes to a four-year engineering college in order to keep himself away from his father and his tactics. After his college tenure, he ends up landing an internship at a prestigious firm, where, during his designated tasks, he ends up uncovering a major scam that endangers his life as well as the people around him. The cast for this film includes actors such as Kireeti Reddy, Sreeleela, Genelia D'Souza, Ravichandran, Sudha Rani, Achyuth Kumar, and Satya.

6/7

‘Coolie’ (Tamil)

Rajnikanth’s ‘Coolie’ is perhaps one of the most popular Tamil releases of the year so far. The story is about Deva, who used to work as a top gold smuggler and has now come back from his retirement to earn his glory back. The film is set to be released on OTT on September 11, and will be available in different languages as well as with subtitles. Names such as Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dev, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Rachita Ram, and Kanna Ravi are a pivotal part of the cast. Even though 'Coolie' had received mixed reviews, Lokesh's directorial did a decent box office performance.

7/7

‘Ekka’ (Kannada)

‘Ekka’, headlined by Yuva Rajkumar, is set to be released on ZEE5 on September 5. It is considered one of the biggest Kannada films of this year upon its theatrical release on July 18. The film’s about a small-town thug who, after a huge turn of events, ends up getting involved in the underworld of Bangalore. After his best friend Ramesh betrays him he makes it his mission to take revenge for the betrayal. The film is led by Yuva Rajkumar, along with names such as Sanjana Anand, Sampada Hulivana, Atul Kulkarni, Aditya, Shruti, and Sadhu Kokila.
