Tamil songs with the most controversial lyrics

Tamil cinema and controversy share an endless bond. A film is primarily made from a director’s view, and the director takes responsibility for the film's success or failure. There may be times when his vision does not go right with a section of the audience getting upset resulting in heated controversies. There were times when Tamil film songs made headlines, but for not really the right reasons. There were incidents, where the disputes were resolved in a courtroom, or outside. Take a look at five Tamil songs that had the most controversial lyrics.

'Evan Di Ynna Pethan' from Silambarasan starrer 'Vaanam' grabbed the attention of the audience, especially the youngsters. A women's rights organization, however, raised questions on the lyrics, as they felt it belittled women. Silambarasan, who had crooned the song, was also under the spotlight, for the same. The case was dismissed later, with no changes.

Sivakarthikeyan was a rising star during the release of 'Maan Karate', and the Anirudh musical had a party song titled ‘Open the Tasmac’ sung by Deva. The song received criticism from a welfare association because according to them, the word ‘Tasmac’ was misleading especially for youngsters. The word 'Tasmac' was replaced with 'Shutter', and a new version was shared by the team later.

Seenu Ramasamy's directorial 'Neer Paravai' features Vishnu Vishal and Sunaina in lead roles, and the romantic drama was a good hit. The song 'Para Para' from 'Neer Paravai' stirred up controversy as a few words in the song had biblical references. After strong disapproval from a religious group, those words were removed.

'Karan' starring Dhanush spoke about a village people and their fight for their rights. Mari Selvaraj's directorial had a song ‘Pandarathi Purnam’, wherein the word 'Pandarathi' indicated a caste. The makers went for a replacement after a few protested against the song, and the song was then titled 'Manjanathi Puranam'. The word Pandarathi was replaced with ‘Manjanathi’.

Suriya starrer 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' has been released recently, and the film is doing wonders at the box office. Meanwhile, the All India Netaji Party has lodged a complaint as words in the song 'Ullam Urugathaiyaa' in the film are insulting Lord Murugan. They have also demanded to remove the song from the film.
