KJ Yesudas has won the National Award for Best Singer over eight times. He is one of the singers who has won the highest number of National Awards. He received his first award in 1972. Some of the most famous songs of his in Tamil are ‘En Iniya Pon Nilave’, 'Aagayam Mele’, ‘Endhan Nenjil’.

SP Balasubramaniam has won the National Award for Best Singer six times. Following Yesudas, SPB is one of the singers who has won the highest number of awards. He has sung songs in over four different languages. He received his first award in 1979. Some of the most famous songs of his in Tamil are ‘Kaadhal Rojave’, ‘Madai Thiranthu’, ‘Rakkama’.

KS Chithra

Chithra has won the National Award for Best Singer six times. She is the singer who has won the maximum National Awards in the female category. She received her first award in 1985 for the song she sang in the film ‘Sindhu Bhairavi’. Some of the famous songs she has sung in Tamil are ‘Kannalanae’, ‘Anantha Kuyilin Paatu’, ‘Veerapandi Kotaiyile’, ‘Naan Pogiren’.
