Rajini’s call to 8 Thotakkal director

On Tuesday morning, Sri Ganesh, the young director of the recent 8 Thotakkal, received a phone call that he isn’t going to forget in a long time. For the caller at the other end was none other than Rajinikanth himself! The Superstar, who has a habit of calling up filmmakers whose films he found interesting, had spoken to Sri Ganesh after watching the youngster’s debut film.
“On Monday night, we got an email from Rajini sir’s office saying that he had heard about the praises for the film and wanted to watch the film, and we arranged for a screening. While that is enough to make anyone feel glad, his phone call was a real surprise,” says the director.
Even though his conversation with the Superstar lasted only a minute, Sri Ganesh says that in that time, Rajinikanth was effusive in praise of the film. “He called the storytelling and writing ‘extraordinary’, and said that he was very impressed by the detail in the performances, particularly MS Bhaskar sir’s and Nasser sir’s. He added, ‘I have no words to appreciate you. It is really a deserving success’,” gushes the filmmaker, who is currently writing his next script, which he will be making with Atharvaa. “This project is likely to go on floors by September,” he adds.
