NEW DELHI: Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad, on Thursday, admitted he narrowly escaped conceding a no-ball during the memorable over in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup when Yuvraj Singh hit him for six consecutive sixes. Broad shared this during a Sky Sports commentary on the 17th anniversary of the event. The match took place between India and England in Durban during the Super Eight stage. Yuvraj's aggressive batting in the 19th over led India to a strong total of 218/4. Broad finished with figures of 0 for 60 in his four overs, with the final over becoming a historic moment in T20 cricket."I’ve never watched it back. But, I must admit, I got lucky to get away with a no-ball there as well. It could have been seven (sixes)," Broad commented, acknowledging his near-miss. "I’ve never seen that, no. Never watched it. So, thank you for that opportunity 17 years on."WATCH:
Yuvraj scored 58 runs off 16 balls in that match, heavily contributing to India's victory. Despite England's efforts, they fell short by 18 runs. India eventually won the first T20 World Cup under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, with Yuvraj’s performance being one of the highlights.Broad’s remarks reflect his understanding of the significant cricket moment, also noting how close he came to conceding an unprecedented seven sixes in one over.
