Director K S Ravikumar admitted at the audio launch of Rowthiram that he watched K V Anand's Ko not once... but twice! Interestingly, he said he watched the film 'only once in the theatre.' Even as the audience burst into laughter thinking the director was joking he iterated that piracy was getting out of hand, saying, 'It is a serious problem. I have been appealing for a long time to the producer's council and everyone else in general, encouraging them to sell the video rights of their film before the pirated CDs and DVDs come out.'
The entire scene unfolded with S A Chandrasekhar, who is the head of the producer's council, being present on stage.
'I hope the current president of the council will take my appeal into consideration ' said K S Ravikumar, speaking directly to SAC. 'Maybe we will see some change when R B Chowdary becomes the president of the council.'
Speaking on the issue of piracy, the director said that it is 'a reality we must live with and nothing can be done about it.' 'Technology has advanced so much and there is so little that we can do about piracy. The best thing to do would be for producers to sell the video rights of the film before the pirated versions get out in the market,' he suggests.
