Mohanlal, the man synonymous with Malayalam cinema, celebrates his birthday today. The legendary actor and producer turns 53 today and celebrated his birthday with the Ilayathalapathy Vijay starrer 'Jilla' team in Chalakudy. Despite being on the wrong side of 50, Mohanlal has no plans of slowing down. Born in 1960, Mohanlal started his cinema career with
Thironattam in 1978.
Since then, he has acted in more than 300 Malayalam films, apart from a couple of Tamil and Hindi flicks. Moreover, the superstar has lent his voice to approximately 25 songs in various movies. Mohanlal has two children ��� Pranav and Vismaya. He has produced films under the banner Pranavam Arts and Vismayas Max, a film post-production studio apart from other business ventures he owns.
Mohanlal shot to fame in 1986 after the success of
Rajavinte Makan, in which he played an underworld don. He produced his first film in 1990 -- the musical hit, His Highness Abdullah. His most notable role in a Bollywood movie was a cop in Ram Gopal Verma's hit
