Manikandan’s fam-com will focus on adventures in people’s everyday life

With Good Night becoming a sleeper hit earlier this year, it looks like Manikandan has become an in-demand actor in Kollywood. The actor, who has finished shooting for his next film Lover, has now been roped in to play the lead in YouTuber Rajeshwar Kalisamy’s debut feature film.

“The film is a family entertainer with a lot of humour; I’d call it a fam-com! It looks at the adventures that our everyday life offers. Manikandan plays a young man living with his parents, played by actor-director R Sundarrajan and Nakkalites Dhanam, who is a regular presence in our YouTube videos,” informs Rajeshwar, who has written the story with Prasanna Balachandran of his YouTube channel’s team.

Tollywood actress Saanve Megghana will be making her Tamil debut with this film. “She has been part of Telugu films like Pushpaka Vimanam and the anthology Pitta Kathalu. She will be playing Manikandan’s pair in our film,” reveals the director.

Noted actor Guru Somasundaram, too, is part of the film’s cast. “He plays a character whose values are the opposite of those of the protagonist. In that sense, he is like the antagonist of the film,” says Rajeshwar.

The film, which will be set in Coimbatore, goes on floor today. Indie musician Vaisagh, who is known for songs like Kaaka Kadha and a couple of numbers in Thunivu, will be composing the music for the project.
