In a recent interview, director Mathimaran Pugazhendhi revealed that 'Mandaadi' is dedicated to the maritime heritage of his native Cuddalore. Soori plays the titular role of 'Mandaadi,' a fishing team leader whose victory depends on his knowledge and mastery of wind patterns and ocean currents. The film revolves around a traditional sailboat race that is held during festivals. The director teased that the race's specific team structure consisting of groups of six paves the way for an important twist that underlines the film's plot.'

The film is being created with the help of world-class action experts. Last year, the team faced a scary moment when their boat flipped over during a shoot, but they didn't let that stop them and kept right on filming. Reportedly, the project is in the hands of a very talented and experienced crew.
