Tamil film personalities are rallying behind 'Jana Nayagan' amidst its delayed release due to censor controversy. Directors Ravi Mohan and Venkat Prabhu, along with actor Shanthanu, have voiced strong support, emphasizing the film's inevitable success and its significance for the upcoming Pongal festival. Political undertones have also emerged, with accusations of disrespect towards Tamil culture and cinema.
The delay of release of ‘Jana Nayagan’ row over censor controversy has triggered ripples within the Tamil film fraternity as actors and filmmakers have come out in full support of the film and its creators. With the film's fate in the balance, social media has been flooded with calls for support for Kollywood to come out in support of Thalapathy Vijay and the filmmakers. The delay, attributed to certification and not the movie itself, has sparked debate around censorship and equality.

Ravi Mohan and Venkat Prabhu lead emotional wave of support

Actor Ravi Mohan struck an emotional note, calling the situation “heartbreaking” and standing firmly beside Vijay “as a brother among millions of brothers.” In a post that resonated widely with fans, he declared that 'Jana Nayagan' does not need a release date, stating, “You are the opening. Whenever that date is, Pongal only starts then.” Director Venkat Prabhu echoed the sentiment with confidence, asserting that regardless of obstacles, 'Jana Nayagan' will emerge as “the biggest farewell in Indian cinema,” reinforcing belief in the film’s eventual impact.

Shanthanu, Vijay Vasanth echo fan sentiment and cultural concerns

Actor Shanthanu shared his disappointment as well, expressing that the happenings surrounding the film's release were hard to bear. He stressed that irrespective of who is involved, audiences and fans would stand by what is right, reiterating his support for Vijay and the team. “Pongal starts ONLY with 'Jana Nayagan' release,” he wrote, adding a note of hope with the words, “Nalladhe nadakkum, Vettri nichayam.” Otherwise actor-politician Vijay Vasanth took the political route and was reminded of Rahul Gandhi's previous statement regarding disrespecting Tamil culture.
The BJP was accused of having a delay in getting the censor certification, and this was viewed as disrespect for the Tamil community and Tamil cinema.
Others like Ajay Gnanamuthu, Shanmugam Muthusamy, Karthik Subbaraj, and John Mahendran have expressed their praises too for ‘Jana Nayagan’ but the lack of comments from many other actors and filmmakers has disappointed ardent fans and supporters alike.
