In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Vijay Sethupathi has confirmed that he is part of ‘Jailer 2.’ He shared that he has done a cameo in the film. He also shared the reason behind this decision. The ‘Farzi’ actor said, “I have done a cameo in Jailer 2 because I love Rajinikanth, sir. To be with him, I get to learn a lot. The superstars survived in this industry for so many decades. There is so much to learn.Vijay also mentioned that he had earlier decided not to do cameos or villain roles. But for Rajinikanth, he made an exception.

Why does Vijay Sethupathi avoid villain roles now?

In the same interview, Vijay Sethupathi discussed why he is cautious about choosing villain roles. He explained that many filmmakers emotionally compel him to take on such roles. This affects the movies where he plays the hero. He said, “Now I'm doing the villain for the script only, which excites me.”
Vijay also shared that most villain roles are written routinely. According to him, they are made only to lift the hero. Since these roles are not special, he has rejected many offers.
