Actress Edin Rose will be seen in a key role in upcoming Rajinikanth starrer ‘Jailer 2’. Recently the actress opened up about struggles she faced in Bollywood, and why she feels happy working in South cinema as she calls the industry “welcoming” and criticizes the Hindi film industry for body shaming.

South cinema made her feel comfortable

While speaking with Mid-day, Edin Rose said she always felt welcomed in the South film industry. She shared that people there were open to giving chances to new actors. Even though she is South Indian, she said she is still learning the regional languages. The actress explained that she never felt like an outsider while working there.“Essentially, I am south Indian, but I don't speak the languages and I am right now learning them. So for me as a fresher, as a newcomer, I felt like it was really open. It was so easy to work with them,” she said“There were no barriers. There was no differentiation or anything along those lines. I had the talent, I did the auditions and I got the work. So it's been pretty smooth,” she added.

Edin Rose about her experience in Bollywood

The actress also spoke about the problems she faced in Bollywood during her early days. The actress revealed that she lost projects because of her body type. “I got turned down from a few projects here in Bollywood because of my body type,” she shared. She explained that she was told to reduce her hips. She said it was unrealistic because it was part of her bone structure. The actress added that while weight can change, bone structure cannot. “Because I am on the curvier side and I was told to make my hips lesser,” she said.

Edin Rose work front

She made her acting debut in Telugu cinema in the 2023 action-thriller ‘Ravanasura’, directed by Sudheer Varma, where she appeared alongside Ravi Teja. She was last seen in the Tamil film, ‘Love Insurance Kompany’.
