It's better to work on a film that people anticipate: Durai Senthilkumar
Director RS Durai Senthilkumar has teamed up with businessman-actor Legend Saravanan for the upcoming action drama, Leader. The filmmaker, who has previously directed stars like Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan and Soori, says he isn’t affected by the negative reception that Saravanan’s debut film, The Legend , received. “There’s anticipation for his next film and how he’ll be in it. I think it’s better to work on a film that people anticipate and view it only in a positive light.”
Durai Senthilkumar (DSK) shares that both he and his leading man were clear about the creative process from the beginning. “The understanding was that it’s my film in which he’ll be a part of. By nature, I like telling stories by creating heroic moments. So, I also gave him a surety. He is a huge businessman, but he did everything that I asked for in this film.”
“I insisted that he not use a body double for fight sequences. And he did them with full involvement. Even when Vetri Maaran sir (whom he had earlier assisted) saw the film, he said that the stunts have come out well,” Delving into his interactions with Saravanan, he reveals, “Initially, for four to five months, we spoke generally. As I got to know him better, I understood that he didn’t get into acting because he has money. He really has a passion for cinema.”
Speaking about the film, Durai Senthilkumar states, “It’s the story of a father and daughter who lead an ordinary life and what happens when they get in the middle of an issue between the police department and the underworld.” Quiz him on the title and he says, “Anyone who leads a family and fulfils their needs is a leader. So, I wanted to phrase the term ‘ kudumba thalaivan ’ in a catchier way.”Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
