She made her debut in the industry in 2013 with the critically acclaimed Hindi film Madras Café. The next year,
Raashi Khanna made her Tollywood debut with Oohalu Gusagusalade, and then, in 2018, she acted in her first Tamil film. In the long years she spent in the industry, she has become a household name in Telugu and Tamil film industries.
With years of experience behind her, ask Raashi if she has become a better judge of scripts that come her way, and she says with a laugh, “I don’t know if I have learnt to judge scripts, but when I have to choose a film, I do pay attention to what my character is like. Screen time doesn’t matter; my role has to make an impact. I’ve done mature roles, and I’ve played typical young girl characters. It’s not like I’ll do only full-on commercial roles. In fact, I think I’m better at doing emotional scenes. In my upcoming film Ayogya, there’s a nice emotional scene that I felt was quite challenging. I think I’ll take up roles that send out a good message.”
Ayogya is being directed by
Venkat Mohan, and has
Vishal playing the lead. It’s a remake of Telugu film Temper, which was recently remade in Bollywood as well. Did she give any inputs to the director on her character? “When I met the director, I asked him about my character and wanted to give it a realistic angel. Yes, everyone knows she is an animal lover, but I wanted it to be a little more relatable. And he was sweet enough to hear me out. I think it’s a nice character,” she signs off.
