Hotspot sequel will be quirky but won’t have adult content: Vignesh Karthick

Director Vignesh Karthick’s anthology film Hotspot is set to return with a sequel titled Hotspot 2 Much . In conversation with us, the filmmaker says the new film is structurally leaner than the first. “We had four stories in part 1, but there are three in this film. One story is about a father and a daughter, another is predominantly a love story, and the third is about a recent sensational issue. But the issue hadn’t taken place when we wrote about it,” he shares.The film features an ensemble cast including Priya Bhavani Shankar, Ashwin Kumar , Rakshan, Thambi Ramaiah, Aadhitya Baaskar, Bhavani Sre, Brigida Saga, Sanjana Tiwari and MS Baaskar.Explaining the title, he adds, “We didn’t want to title it bluntly as Hotspot 2 , but thought of making it interesting and catchy. The sequel will be too much like the first part in terms of its quirkiness, but without any adult-related content.”Vignesh is confident about the sequel’s certification. “We haven’t certified the film yet, but I’ll confidently say that unlike Hotspot , the sequel won’t be ‘A’-certified,” the filmmaker says, adding, “Misconceptions around ‘A’ certification often keep family audiences away. So, we naturally prefer ‘UA’.”Talking about working with Ashwin Kumar, he says, “He is sincere, sweet and punctual. What I heard about him and how he was on set was totally different. He wasn’t late even for one day.”
