Debutant director JJ Fredrick is elated about the response he has been receiving for Jyotika-starrer Ponmagal Vandhal, which was the first major film to have released on an OTT platform, thanks to various circumstances. On Monday, he took to social media to express happiness over the gifts he received from
Jyotika and
Suriya. Posting a picture of the gifts and another one in which he was seen along with his wife, Rajsekar Pandian and the star couple, he said knowing them is the best he has received so far.
He also thanked Pandian for the love. He posted on Twitter, “#Jo Ma'am @Suriya_offl Sir. Thank u so much for the memorable gifts but the gift of knowing u is the best I've received so far. @rajsekarpandian Sir. Finally All ur unconditional Luv has made #PonmagalVandhal Victorious! Mere words will not suffice to express my gratitude.”
Earlier, the film courted controversy when the makers announced their decision to release the movie on OTT platform as exhibitors expressed displeasure over the same. There were also reports about exhibitors issuing a red card for Suriya’s upcoming projects, including Sudha Kongara’s Soorarai Pottru. However, the issue was later sorted out amicably. Now, following the path chosen by Ponmagal Vandhal, Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin is all set to release this Friday on OTT platform. The long-pending Arun Vijay-starrer Vaa Deal, Shreya Reddy’s Andava Kaanom and Priyanka Upendra’s Mummy Save Me will also be available on streaming platform soon.
