Director Vijayasekaran is quite content with the way his film, Evanum Buddhanillai, has shaped up. Touted to be an action entertainer, the film is about innocent people who get trapped in the cyber world. “Though the brother-sister sentiment plays an important role, the film is basically an action thriller,” he begins.
The film features Swasika, Niharika, Nabi Nandhi, and Sarath in the lead, while
Poonam Kaur has shot for a special song.
“We’ve shot the film in Kozhuku Malai (or Kolukkumalai), which is on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. It’s the highest place in Asia where tea is cultivated. This location will be the highlight of the film,” he says, and goes on to elaborate, “We shot in a settlement there, which is at a height of 6000ft, and is called Central Station.
During the British reign, about 300 families lived on top of the mountain and worked in the plantations. For them, to go down to the base of the mountain and get things that they need on a daily basis was difficult because it would take them at least eight hours to travel one way. So, they used a winch to transport things. The top of the peak where they lived was called ‘Top Station’, and the mid-point was called ‘Central Station’. There are no hotels in ‘Central Station’, and we stayed with the locals there for about 19 days to shoot the film. That’s an experience we will cherish for a lifetime.”
