Dushara Vijayan wins State Film Award for Best Actress for ‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’; calls it a ‘reminder to stay rooted’

Actress Dushara Vijayan has won the Tamil Nadu government’s State Film Award for Best Actress (Special Mention) for the year 2022. She received the award for her performance in the romance musical ‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’. Recently, she took to her social media handle to share a long message, while accepting the honour and congratulating fellow winners. She also called the win a reminder to stay rooted and keep moving.

Dushara Vijayan’s message

In her statement shared on her Instagram handle, Dushara wrote, “With a heart full of gratitude, I accept the Tamil Nadu State Award - Best Actress (Special Mention) for ‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’ (2022). To be recognised by the Tamil Nadu Government, by the land that raised my dreams and shaped my art, is an honour I will carry with humility and pride.”

The actress also shared about another film close to her heart. She said, “I am equally overwhelmed that ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’, a film so close to my soul, received the State Award for 2021.” She added, “This journey was never mine alone. These films were born from collective courage, trust and love for cinema, for stories that matter and for truth.” She thanked the government, jury, directors, writers, technicians and co-artists for supporting her.

Message to fans and fellow winners

She congratulated the other winners by saying, “To my fellow award winners, your work inspires, challenges and reminds us why cinema matters.” She ended with a loving message to her fans. She wrote, “And to my fans, my constant strength, thank you for seeing me, supporting me and holding my hand through every role.” She closed her note with powerful words, “This is not a destination.
