Trisha, it seems, is having the time of her life. The actress, who has been shooting in Baramati near Pune for her debut film in Bollywood Khatta Meetha with Akshay Kumar for the last two weeks, has just completed the first schedule of the film.
Talking to BT over phone from Baramati, the actress said, It is an all-new experience for me as Akki and director Priyan have gone out of their way to make me comfortable.
Trisha also revealed that she was thrilled to do her first song with Akshay, a fine dancer, choreographed by Pony Varma.
It was a night effect duet with Akshay, a traditional number with dancers in the background. I did a Kathak bit for the song, in which Ill be seen in an Indian costume. The song is a melodious number by Pritam, she said.
The film is based on Priyadarsans 1990 Malayalam film Vellanakalude Nadu, which had Mohanlal and Shobana in the lead. So, Trisha is now doing a role made memorable by an actress of Shobanas calibre.
Shobana played an upright panchayat officer who is in charge of laying roads in a village, while Mohanlal excelled as a corrupt contractor who frames her, leading to a twist in the tale.
Priyan has said that she has two different avatars in the film and it will be more challenging than the roles that she has played so far. However, the director has made changes in her role.
Meanwhile, Trisha, due to a date clash, has decided to opt out of her Telugu film Brindavanam with Junior NTR. Kajal Agarwal, who is riding a wave of success in
Telugu cinema following the box-office success of Magadheera with Ram Charan Tej, has replaced her in the film.
Says Trisha, As of now, I have to complete Gautham Vasudev Menons Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya with Silambarasan and Nammo Venkatesa in Telugu with Venkatesh. I had a genuine date problem doing Junior NTRs film. Now, my priority is to complete Khatta Meetha in the next few months, and then take a call on my future moves, though I will continue to be a part of south Indian cinema.
