Are Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh approached by Lokesh Kanakraj for Rajinikanth starrer 'Thalaivar 171'? Here's what we know

After the box office success of 'Vikram' and 'Leo,' director Lokesh Kanakaraj is gearing up for his next project with none other than Thalaivar Rajinikanth. Reportedly, the director is in the final stage of scripting for this movie. Recent buzz suggests that the director is about to cast a leading actor from Bollywood in an extended role for this movie.

According to a recent report from Pinkvilla, the director has approached Shah Rukh Khan to play a key role in the movie. However, the actor conveyed his decision not to take the part due to his choice of doing standalone feature films after his appearances in 'Rocketry,' 'Tiger 3,' and 'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva'. He expressed his love and respect for the actor and director but decided not to make such appearances anytime soon.

However, reportedly, SRK has extended appearance in his daughter Suhana Khan’s theatrical debut, 'The King', directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The actor believes it would affect his fans' emotions to make another such appearance. However, he is happy to do a standalone movie with Lokesh as he respects SRK’s choice.
Hence, Ranveer Singh was approached for the part and he has agreed after hearing the whole script. If this receives wide acceptance, the director will make a spin-off for this character after 'Thalaivar 171.' The meeting is scheduled for 2024 between Ranveer and Lokesh.


'Thalaivar 171' is expected to start filming in April 2024 with a big-screen release in 2025. The movie aims to excite fans with a star-studded cast soon.
