KK's finest partnership in Tamil cinema was undoubtedly with Harris Jayaraj. They started with two peppy numbers — Love Pann and Mutham Mutham Mutham — in 12B and struck gold with Uyirin Uyire in Kaakha Kaakha. The same year, in 2003, with Kalyanamthaan Kattikittu (Saamy), KK's voice went to the nooks and crannies of the state. The duo would repeat this feat again with songs like Kadhalukkum Aasai Illai (Chellamae), Mudhal Naal Indru (Unnale Unnale) and Andangakka Kondakkari (Anniyan). As fate would have it, KK's last Tamil songs were also with Harris — Konji Konji and Popopo in the upcoming The Legend. "My “Uyirin Uyire” passed away. RIP Singer KK. What a shocking news to hear when the whole world is praising his last song “Konji Konji”. I am completely shattered and my condolences to his family and friends," shared a heartbroken Harris on the singer's demise.

Like Harris, Yuvan was one composer who consistently worked with KK in the early 2000s. The singer delivered two achingly beautiful romantic numbers for the composer with Ninaithu Ninaithu Paarthen (7/G, Rainbow Colony) and Kaadhal Valarthen (Manmadhan), he was also the voice behind melodious duets like Pani Thuli Pani Thuli (Kanda Naal Mudhal) and Sakka Podu Potaane (Daas). Paying tribute to the singer, Yuvan wrote, "It’s been a sad week for the music community of our Country with Sidhu Moose Wala & now KK. Life is unpredictable & we never know what the next minute holds, you will be missed KK."

Vidyasagar gave KK one of his most memorable songs in Tamil with Ghilli's Appadi Podu Podu, which showcased the energetic vocals of the singer. Interestingly, he is, along with AR Rahman, one of the few composers who worked with KK in the 1990s. KK sang the romantic Poovukellam Siragu Mulaithathu in Uyirodu Uyiraga for the music director. The duo later worked together in songs like Gundu Gundu Gundu Ponne (Dhool), Annannoda Paattu (Chandramukhi), and Lelakku Lelakku (Aadhi) among others.

It was AR Rahman who got Kay Kay to sing in the south first, with Hello Doctor in Kadhal Desam's Telugu version Prema Desam. While that song became quite popular, it was Strawberry Kanne from Minsara Kanavu that became KK's visiting card for the next few years. While Rahman roped in the singer to croon a couple of songs in his Hindi projects sadly, the duo did not work together in Tamil later. "Dear KK ..what’s the hurry buddy ..gifted singers and artists like you made this life more bearable," Rahman wrote on his social media pages following the singer's demise.

KK has sung more than half-a-dozen songs for Bharadwaj. While Pathukkule Number Onnu Sollu from Vasool Raja MBBS happens to be their most popular song, they have also delivered hit numbers like Oru Vaartha Keka Oru Varusham and Thaamirabarani Rani in Ayya, Poi Solla Poren in Thiruttu Payale and the peppy Pengal Nenjai in Jay Jay.
