The film, upon its release, received a positive to mixed response from the audience. On X (formerly Twitter), an internet user took to their handle and wrote, “Just watched Vaa Vaathiyar. Karthi carries the film with his performance, and the first half genuinely works. But the second half feels rushed, predictable, and emotionally incomplete.” Another uses added, “Vaa Vaathiyaar has a strong one-line and a promising start.
