Vince McMahon will always be regarded as the man who made
WWE into the global juggernaut as we know it today, despite no longer being a part of the company. While many feel that it is indeed a new era under the TKO banner, former WWE Intercontinental Champion and ECW legend Shane Douglas has a different perspective regarding the company's creative direction.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Douglas said that WWE has not truly moved away from Vince McMahon's creative influence. He cited the example of the current WWE Chief Content Officer and his son-in-law,
Triple H, who is leading the creative charge of the business, and also Vince's daughter, Stephanie McMahon. Douglas said,
“The problem I think is that even though Vince is supposedly gone, who did Hunter learn from? Vince. Who did Stephanie learn from? Vince. So them still being involved in it, they're probably going to keep getting Vince.”Vince McMahon left WWE in 2024
Vince McMahon purchased WWE from his father, Vincent J McMahon, and transformed it from a regional promotion to a global brand in sports entertainment. He briefly retired in 2022, only to make his return a few months later to pursue the sale of WWE. In 2023, the company was sold to Endeavor and merged with UFC to form the TKO Group Holdings, in which McMahon held a top corporate position.
However, former WWE employee Janel Grant accused him of s*xual misconduct and s*x trafficking charges, which became public in 2024. This led to McMahon resigning from TKO and cutting all ties with WWE, the same company he founded.
Moreover, TKO also drifted away from the former WWE Chairman, removing all of his past references, and WWE came under the new administration of Triple H and President and CEO, Nick Khan. The duo, alongside a top corporate team, has been taking the company to unprecedented heights since then.
On the other hand, Vince McMahon has formed a new investments and entertainment company, '14 & I', however, publicly there is no information on what the company has been doing since its inception. So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Vince McMahon moving forward.
