Why did Bhagath walked out of Actress

When Mollywood director Mohana Krishnan all set to cast actor Bhagath Manuel in his film Actress, little did he know that he would be left without a lead actor soon. The story, that revolves around a youngster who hopes to make it big as an actor, but becomes an actress, had Bhagath excited about the challenge. But in a surprising turn of events, the young actor walked out citing personal issues.
A source close to the director highlights the real reason behind Bhagath’s decision. “At around the same time that Bhagath signed up for this role, his mentor and actor Dileep was planning to start Mayamohini. The film sees Dileep dressed like a woman. While the two stories are not similar, Dileep may not have wanted the very concept of an actor as an actress to hit the screens before his own film did. That was what compelled Bhagath to take a call and step back,” says the source.
The source also adds that Bhagath’s decision came up after he was allegedly taken on a guilt trip of sorts. “When this team had finalised on this project, a well known cinematographer called Bhagath to ask him how he could do this to Dileep, who introduced Bhagath to tinsel town. Initially, Bhagath was in two minds on whether to work on this project or not. He informed his director he would not want to take up the role. The director convinced him otherwise, but one week after the film was officially announced, Bhagath walked out and left the project high and dry. The young actor was worried he may not be allowed to be a part of the industry if he continued on the project,” says our source, on condition of anonymity.
When contacted, director Mohana Krishnan refused to comment on the issue. Bhagath too, denied that anything like this had taken place. “I backed out of the project due to personal reasons. Dileep has nothing to do with this. He is my mentor, and he continues to be my well-wisher. This was completely my decision,” he says. As for the star in question, Dileep tells us simply, “I am not aware of any such news. This is the first time I am hearing it.”
