The nation is doing it again – reposing its faith in Sachin Tendulkar. This time though, the 39-year-old master blaster may have to shoulder the expectations of doing justice to the job of an MP. As the first active cricketer to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha, will Sachin excel in his new role? We ask a few celebrity cricket enthusiasts... Sachin’s 39th birthday seems to be working good for him, first, with his 100th century and now, his chance to open a new chapter in his life at the Rajya Sabha.
Sachin has handled pressure at several occasions. So he’ll do justice to his new role too (A cricket enthusiast himself, Vinu is now in Thalassery for a match with the Thalassery Cricket Association’s team, with eight of his fellow players in Kerala’s celebrity cricket team).
Vinu Mohan, actor Whether Sachin will become an MP or not will not make any difference to the love and affection he gets from the public. Even if he becomes an MP, I guess his first priority will always be cricket. There are so many who just sit there in the Rajya Sabha, doing nothing. Sachin will be better than them any day.
Rajeev Pillai, actor There is no one who can match Sachin's position in the country. Yet, he keeps a low profile. He is someone who still practises his game every day and corrects his flaws despite being one of the best cricketers today. I'm sure his dedication and sincerity will be reflected in his political career as well.
Nivin Pauly, actor Sachin’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha is for good. We should be happy that, for a change, a brilliant cricketer like Sachin is going to be a part of the Indian Parliament.
